A new tomato variety called Jester grown by English Village Salads which also controls the seed has impressed Marks and Spencer so much that it has contracted for supplies well into the next decade. Several other types have been on display at the Southport Show as an extension of the campaign launched by the industry to tell consumers that English fruit has taste. Varieties include Baby Sweetheart, a cherry tomato, and Cloe, a vine variety.
