Wrights Food Group has appointed Jez Threadgold as commercial director in a bid to bolster its growth plans in foodservice and retail.
Threadgold joins the business from 2 Sisters Food Group, where he was most recently site general manager for Matthew Walker, with responsibility for everything from operations through to commercial.
He was previously commercial controller for two 2 Sisters businesses – Matthew Walker (Christmas puddings) and Avana Bakeries (cakes and desserts).
Threadgold has also held sales, commercial and key account roles with Weetabix and Fox’s Biscuits, working with major UK retailers, foodservice and cash & carry operators, across both branded and own-label products.
Peter Wright, Wrights’ chairman and chief executive, said this was a “key appointment” that would help the group maximise the commercial opportunities across all key product areas including savouries, ready meals, cakes and desserts.
“We have invested substantially in our manufacturing and food development facilities over the last two years and Jez’s experience and knowledge within the industry will be invaluable as we look to further build our sales across both foodservice and retailing,” Wright said.
Threadgold said it was an exciting time for the company and he was looking forward to working with the management team to look at capitalising Wrights’ “ongoing investment and an unwavering commitment to producing a broad range of high-quality products” and grow market share in its chosen sectors.
