Changes to orders are now included in the dispatch notification email

JJ Food Service has committed to notify trade customers of product weight variations and substitutions before delivery.

JJ chief operating officer Mushtaque Ahmed said products such as frozen-at-sea fish and fresh lamb were highly popular, but cases could vary in weight by up to a few kilograms.

Customers were previously given an estimated weight when they ordered with the final details confirmed and invoice amended on the customers’ premises or at point of collection.

Now changes are included in the dispatch notification email, which informs customers that their order is on its way.

A ‘product alert’ at the top of the message informs them of any variations in their shopping basket, including changes to weights and the corresponding prices - together with any product substitutes.

Ahmed said it was important to let customers know exactly what they were getting before they got it.

“This helps to reduce the amount of time drivers spend on customers’ premises - letting them get back to running their businesses. It’s just another way that we are investing in technology to improve service.”

JJ, which delivers from 11 branches, believes the 15% of the UK’s fish & chip shops it supplies will especially appreciate the change.
