JJ Food Service has become the first grocery and foodservice wholesaler in the UK to launch a ‘one-tap payment’ option for online orders.
The tap-to-pay functionality works by using details that have been captured through the wholesaler’s app by a card scanner, which are then stored in the system to allow users to check out instantly.
JJ Food Service COO Mushtaque Ahmed said: “Convenience and speed are absolutely key to our customers. With more than 50% of our online orders now coming via a mobile device, one-tap pay will make online shopping at JJ Food Service faster than ever before.”
The service also allows multiple card details to be saved.
“This means that customers do not need to manually type in credit card information, saving time and improving accuracy,” added Ahmed.
The new feature follows the recent announcement of JJ’s new fingerprint ID, which enables instant authentication for app users, and card scanning that automatically scans in a card’s details.
“As a result of these three developments, we have reduced the time taken to place an online order by a minimum of 30%,” said Ahmed.
JJ said its app had hit a record of more than 25,000 downloads since the developments.
