JJ Foodservice has added a new line of premium Japanese-style rice to its offer.

The short-grain rice is specifically designed for sushi, as well as other popular Asian and fusion restaurants.

The wholesaler had chosen the sasanishiki variety of rice for its “excellent texture and consistency” according to chief product officer Baris Kacar.

The launch is JJ’s first own-brand product for Japanese restaurants. It will appear alongside its newest small pack size of Thai Majestic Hom Mali rice.

One of JJ’s existing clients, Japanese-Korean restaurant Kome, has added the new rice to the menu.

“High-quality sushi rice is key to our business,” said Kome owner Zhiguang Liu. “Rice Majestic is sticky, has a great texture, and is exactly what we need.”

Kacar added: “At a competitive price – starting at £16.99 for a 10kg bag – Rice Majestic offers an affordable way for caterers to enhance their sushi menus without compromising on quality.

“Rice Majestic Sushi Rice is just the beginning of our expansion into World Food Asia menus,” he added. “We’re dedicated to giving restaurants access to premium ingredients that help them create authentic, standout dishes their customers love.”
