The bitter legal dispute between JN Dairies and Johal Dairies has ended as JN has now received all monies awarded it by the courts.

In 2009, the High Court found Johal had paid illegal immigrant Gurbir Singh £40,000 to steal confidential customer invoices – including details of volumes, addresses and prices – from JN Dairies. Johal subsequently launched unsuccessful bids to appeal the decision and JN’s claim for damages.

JN’s solicitors, Burges Salmon, have now received the last instalment of the £1,272,000 in damages, costs and interest. It marks the final episode in the legal dispute which has dogged JN for three years.

JN was delighted to have won the case, said director of JN Dairies, Manrupe Singh Nijjar, adding JN did not have a problem with fair competition, “but unlawful activity will not be tolerated”.
