Keith Spicer has appointed John Mills as its new MD.
Mills, who joined on 30 June, has more than 30 years’ experience in own-label and branded beverage markets. His previous roles include MD of Grants of St James’, Constellation Wines and Gaymer cider Co. He was most recently with Intercontinental Brands.
The role is a new one for Keith Spicer, which was previously led by UK sales & marketing director Alistair Lee and COO Andy Pepper. Former chief executive Simon Bowes retired in 2011.
“John’s experience will enable Keith Spicer to reinforce its position as a leading provider of own-label teas in the UK and overseas markets,” said Ray Borooah, president of Keith Spicer owner Harris Tea Company. “He will further strengthen our expertise, allowing us to deliver excellent service to customers.”
In May, The Grocer revealed that Typhoo was suing Keith Spicer for infringement of trademark and malicious falsehood.
In court documents, Typhoo alleged that Keith Spicer had presented an “edited, incomplete and inaccurate” report to retailers and wholesalers regarding the quality and value of its tea.
