MW Brands, the parent company of tuna brand John West, is rumoured to be up for sale, with a price tag of up to £400m.
UBS has been charged with overseeing the sale, according to the Daily Telegraph. The process is expected to start in the next few weeks.
In addition to John West, MW Brands' portfolio also includes other continental fish brands including Petit Navire, Mareblu and Parmentier.
Sales of John West ambient fish topped £153.9m last year, up 18.2% on the previous 12-month period [Nielsen 52 w/e 26 Dec 2009].
