Click & collect locker operator InPost has appointed Jonathan Smith as UK chairman to lead its ambitious expansion programme.
Smith was CEO of Yodel between 2010 and 2012.
Smith has been briefed to help spearhead InPost’s UK plans to double its network of 24/7 lockers to 2,000 locations.
InPost was a fast-growing business that was “answering a very real need in the UK, using disruptive technology to revolutionise the retail industry,” he said.
“We provide retailers with the ability to reach shoppers more easily and we help make deliveries and pick-ups logistically more efficient, all of which makes for a more reliable and convenient experience for the consumer, helping to fulfil the cycle,” Smith added.
InPost has just opened its 1,000th locker location at a convenience store in Wembley.
It also has lockers in Morrisons supermarkets, petrol stations, train stations and local shops across the UK.
Some 150 prime central London locations are scheduled to roll out over the next few months including sites in Covent Garden, Regents Park, London Bridge, Edgware Road, Oxford Street and Shepherd’s Bush.
