Sainsbury is rolling out its range of fresh halal meat to a further 50 stores throughout the UK.
The decision follows the successful launch of the range, initially only in 12 stores.
The range was developed in conjunction with leading supplier Lloyd Maunder. The supplier has been assessed and fully approved by the Halal Food Authority.
Michelle Taylor, halal buyer, said: “The launch is a direct response to an increasing consumer demand for high quality halal meat.”
The range consists of whole chicken, breast, legs, thighs and drumsticks, a half leg of lamb, diced lamb and minced lamb, and prices begin at £1.99.
