Japan Tobacco International UK has removed a Scottish retailer’s tobacco gantry after he was caught selling tobacco to underage customers on numerous occasions.
JTI removed the gantry from Tony’s Newsagent, Torry, Aberdeen, after the store’s owner Shriraj Gindha received a tobacco retail banning order from the Aberdeen Sheriff’s Court.
“Selling cigarettes to minors is inexcusable and JTI is taking a lead to ensure that retailers involved in this type of conduct understand the consequences,” warned UK head of corporate affairs Paul Williams.
“There are no excuses for poor performance when it comes to selling any age-restricted products.”
