Just Eat has made its entry into rapid electronics delivery with an exclusive partnership with audio and tech retailer Richer Sounds.
The product selection available on the Richer Sounds store on the aggregator app includes “emergency” purchases such as phone chargers and charging cables, headphones and bluetooth speakers, along with “as-needed” items such as projectors, turntables and speakers.
It is the first time home entertainment and electronics have been available on Just Eat, offered for delivery in 30 minutes or less. It comes as part of its continuing expansion into non-food.
“We’re thrilled to be enabling our millions of customers to order electronics with the same ease and efficiency as their favourite restaurant meals,” said Just Eat MD Claire Pointon.
“Whether needing a new speaker to blast music for a last-minute Christmas party, or in need of an emergency HDMI lead to host a Champions League watch party, our collaboration with Richer Sounds ensures we’re delivering for customers whenever and wherever they need us.”
The deal marks the latest expansion into non-food for the aggregator app. In August, it forged an exclusive partnership with greetings card and gift retailer Card Factory to offer users a range of 200 products including greetings cards, candles, balloons, gift bags, key rings, confectionery and stationery.
In March, Just Eat began a play in health & beauty through a partnership with independent UK chain Pyramid Pharmacy. It sees a broad range of items including perfume, make-up, first aid essentials and flu remedies listed on the app. In May, it partnered with prescription glasses retailer Pop Specs, enabling customers to order prescription, ready-to-wear eyewear in under 30 minutes.
Speaking to The Grocer in March, Pointon said the company’s move into non-food was just beginning. “We’re at the foothills of these things and they will expand,” she said.
“By launching these new retail partnerships, our aim is to show up for our customers in more of the moments when they need us,” she added.
Just Eat becomes Richer Sounds’ first on-demand delivery partner, with the service rolling out across 51 stores nationwide, including in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol and Nottingham.
“We realise great customer service is sometimes all about speed and convenience, so now if you’re caught without a phone charger or headphones, Richer Sounds and Just Eat can be with customers in a new, fast and flexible way to deliver life’s tech necessities,” said Richer Sounds MD Nathan Kennaugh.
“We believe in the importance of the local high street and by partnering with Just Eat, it’s another way our physical stores can give our customers what they need, when they want it – providing total convenience coupled with the award-winning service, unbeatable prices, great advice and after care that they can expect,” he added.
