Kerry Foods is aiming to capitalise on this year’s summer of sport with two limited-edition products for its Strings & Things Yollies and Cheeshapes Quirkies ranges.
A renamed Sportshapes Quirkies SKU (rsp: £1.50/pack) features 16 new Cheeshapes designs, including a football, cheering shape and foam finger.
Meanwhile, the limited-edition Yollies range (rsp: £1.75/pack) also carries new sport-influenced designs, which Kerry said would allow retailers to tap into the excitement around this summer’s major events, such as Wimbledon, the Euros and the Olympics. Both products went on sale this week in the mults and c-stores.
The products also include a selection of sporty quizzes and challenges designed to keep children active.
The supplier cited the success of limited edition Halloween and Winter variants launched last year – which introduced 600,000 more shoppers to the category [Kantar, Q4, 2020 v Q1, 2021] – as proof cultural event-based NPD offered a “huge opportunity” to grow sales.
“We know parents are looking for snacks with health benefits but that are fun to keep kids entertained,” said Kerry Foods marketing and category director Victoria Southern.
“Given the success of our previous limited-edition ranges we’re confident both new launches are going to be a hit with both kids and their parents.”
