Strong growth in the butter and cheese categories has put the US division of Irish dairy co-op Ornua on target for volume growth of more than 30% this year, it has claimed.
Kerrygold is now the third-ranked butter in terms of sales in the US market, up from fifth place in 2014, and with revenues up by 60% over the past 12 months, said Ornua Foods North America, while Kerrygold Dubliner cheese has also enjoyed a strong year by becoming the number one specialty cheese in dollar sales.
Ornua North America president Roisin Hennerty said the Kerrygold brand had benefited from an increasing consumer awareness of the nutritional benefits of butter from grass-fed cows.
