Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot is back, this time on a mission to save the spirit of Christmas. The discount retailer’s ad takes viewers to a festive village where humbug sweets, led by the evil Dr Humbug, have kidnapped the spirit of Christmas, plunging the once cheery village into darkness.
The ad takes viewers on a tongue-in-cheek adventure featuring a briefcase, fake moustache disguises and booby traps as Kevin and Katie attempt to rescue Christmas.
A table full of Christmas Specially Selected treats including turkey, ham and lobster and desserts like Ganache Pine Cones, Belgian Chocolate Yule Log and the new Ultimate Gold Coin Cake.
“Would it even be Christmas without Kevin the Carrot on our screens? We’re delighted to bring back everyone’s favourite carrot for a ninth year to help the nation get into the Christmas spirit,” said Jemma Townsend, Aldi UK marketing co-director.
Added marketing co-director Kyrsten Halley: “While the ad is packed with the light-hearted entertainment our shoppers have come to know and love, the message behind the campaign is a more serious one – we want to make sure everyone can have the best Christmas possible. It’s why we have a big focus on quality this Christmas, while making sure our prices continue to be unbeatable.”
