Premier Foods has worked with schoolchildren to develop a new line of Mr Kipling cakes.

The limited-edition British Summer Mini Batts, rolling into Morrisons next month (rsp: £1/five-pack), is the result of a partnership between Premier and The Manufacturing Institute.

Designed by children from Pontefract, the Mini Batts are made of pink and green sponge wrapped in apple and rhubarb-flavoured paste. They come in Union Jack-inspired packaging that features a picture of the children and their school crest on the back. The children were invited to see how Mr Kipling Mini Battenburg was made before presenting their own ideas on flavours, colours and pack design.
