The latest brew to go for a bigger bottle size is Kingfisher which has joined the rush into 660ml bottles.
The Indian lager brand made its name in the Indian restaurant sector where the big bottle has gone down well since its launch at the beginning of July. It is now being made available to the off-trade.
Marketing director Brian Dozey: "The response to the bottle has been phenomenal. As a result sales in July, normally a quiet trading period, were higher than in any previous month since the brand was launched in the UK 20 years ago."
The brand is brewed under licence in the UK by Shepherd Neame and marketed and distributed by UBSN.
