Eco-friendly beauty brand KinKind has completed a £500k fundraising drive as it looks to expand its footprint across both the UK and the US.
KinKind said it would use the money to launch into the US, scale its digital marketing, and expand its retail footprint in the UK.
More than half the funding came from angel investors earlier this year, while an ongoing crowdfund has so far raised £200k. The business is valued at £3.5m.
The brand makes a range of plastic and water-free bathroom products such as shampoo and conditioner bars. It says it has already saved approximately 700,000 plastic bottles from waste.
It recently redesigned its packaging to make the products more suitable for retail shelves.
While the business is primarily DTC, with 40% sold through subscription, its products are also available on Amazon and Ocado. “Everything is in place for the business to take off,” said founder Victoria Coe.
“We have profitably doubled D2C sales this month, Amazon is solidly building, and Ocado has had a strong launch period. The future of beauty is definitely KinKind plastic-free.”
