Kitwave has snapped up alcohol wholesaler HB Clark for an undisclosed sum.
The deal is the hot on the heels of its acquisition of frozen foods supplier Phoenix Fine Foods in September, which the wholesaler said marked a new phase of growth for the group.
Wakefield-based HB Clark, one of the UK’s biggest independent alcohol wholesalers, has an £80m turnover and operates across the North of England from 11 depots.
Kitwave, which agreed a multimillion-pound refinancing deal with Pricoa Capital earlier this year, said the deal would expand its offering and customer base in the wider North region.
The wholesaler has also announced Jay MacKay will join the group as the new managing director.
MacKay, who joined the board in March this year, was appointed MD this month and has worked in various roles within the Kitwave group for almost nine years.
Prior to joining Kitwave in 2008, MacKay was a general manager at Batleys for more than six years and spent one year as operations manager at Giant Stores in the Middle East.
“We’re very pleased to complete the acquisition of HB Clark,” said MacKay.
“Clarks has a proud history of providing a quality delivered solution to its customers and this ethos is a key part of the Kitwave Group. HB Clark will continue to run as an independent business and we look forward to building the business further with its loyal employees, customers and strong supplier relationships.”
