Today’s Group member Kitwave has revealed plans to build a new 65,000 sq ft distribution centre in Wakefield to “catalyse” growth in its drinks wholesaling business HB Clark.
Kitwave is set to relocate HB Clark from its current headquarters at its 40,000 sq ft Westgate Brewery in Wakefield to the Wakefield Hub after snapping up four acres at the site.
Wakefield Hub is over 1.5 million sq ft and located in a prime spot at Junction 30 of the M62, with links to Junction 42 of the M1.
Kitwave will join cold chain logistics provider NewCold, which currently has a 420,000 sq ft unit at the site.
“Wakefield Hub was the obvious choice for the continued expansion of HB Clark,” said Kitwave MD Paul Young.
“It offers high-quality, purpose-built industrial premises right on the motorway network, providing essential access to the northern distribution network. Due to the allocation, the site can be delivered speedily, which will be of great importance to ensure continued employment, allow for our proposed future expansion plans and enable HB Clark to build upon the quality of service our customers have come to expect during over 100 years of trading. We look forward to seeing the project move forward; it will no doubt be a catalyst in the continued success of our business.”
It follows Kitwave’s acquisition of HB Clark in November 2016.
HB Clark is an on-trade alcohol wholesaler with specialist divisions in wine and cask ale. It delivers to over 4,500 customers from a network of nine depots.
