There will be a substantial increase in the volume of Zespri Gold kiwifruit arriving from New Zealand this season. UK retail account executive Tim Lloyd confirmed that Zespri is expected to make a premium over traditional fruit. Lloyd anticipates this softer honey coloured hybrid will be priced at around 25p each retail compared to 19p each. The fruit is expected to arrive in mid July and the majority of multiples have already agreed to stock. The kiwifruit will be shipped in bulk and prepacked in the UK. Spoons are to be included in prepacks in a bid to educate consumers and others will be scanned to fit into the "ready to eat" range.
