Koko Diary Free has launched a reformulated Yogrt range with fewer ingredients, more live dairy-free cultures and improved taste.

Koko has reduced the sugar in its plain alternative yoghurt from 4.2g to 0.3g per 100g, simplified the ingredient list from 11 to just six, and added additional cultures to promote gut health.

The entire range now has more coconut, driven by preference that was identified in consumer research for more natural products.

“Our recipe changes were driven by extensive consumer research where a significant percentage of participants found our products too sweet, too salty, and containing too many flavourings,” said Victoria Eadon, senior marketing manager at Koko.

“We’ve significantly reduced sugar content and simplified our ingredient list while adding additional cultures to promote gut health,” she added. “These changes reflect our commitment to consumer health and responding to the growing demand for simpler, more natural products with functional benefits.”

The Vanilla Yogrt has been changed to a thicker and creamier base, with a vanilla flavour. The fruited yoghurts, Strawberry, Raspberry, Peach & Passionfruit, have reduced sugar and a more natural fruit flavour, the brand said.

Koko is free from all 14 major allergens, including dairy, soya, and oats, and the range is enriched with calcium, vitamins D2 and B12.

“The dairy alternative category is more competitive than ever with some big players, and as an independently owned business, we are proud to continue to offer a fantastic range of products without compromising on allergens or taste,” said Eadon.

In the UK, Koko is available to purchase in store at Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Co-op, Ocado, Booths and online at Ocado and Amazon.
