United Biscuits is scrapping its KP McVitie's sales division as it restructures and puts more cash behind activities in the wholesale sector.
Up to 400 staff are being axed, including 145 sales reps. A spokeswoman said that few employees would be offered alternative positions within UB.
The cuts come as UB proposes "an increased focus and level of activity behind the route to market in C&C and delivered wholesale". "We are also looking to increase investment in brand specific support, especially TV advertising," she added.
