Cadbury Dairy Milk's new sister brand Milka is to get a countline boost this year with new 45g bars and a £4.7m marketing push.
Kraft will launch the 45g Alpine Milk and Daim-flavoured bars (rsp: 49p) next month, with four-bar multipacks (rsp: £1.65) available from May.
The NPD, coupled with a TV campaign breaking in April, marked Kraft's first concerted effort to establish Milka as a key countline brand, said Milka marketing manager Jane Furze.
Milka would not compete with Dairy Milk, but rather with premium brands such as Lindt and Galaxy, she added.
"With its Alpine milk and Alpine heritage, Milka offers something different to the UK category and there's always space for a category-enhancing brand," she said.
"We're at a very early stage of the integration with Cadbury and any plans have been made completely independently."
