Landmark Wholesale has opened a portal with the Good Food & Gift Company (GFG) to allow members to order small quantities of specialist and niche products.
Using a fulfilment centre in Dunstable, GFG supplies trade customers with free-from, speciality and lifestyle food and drink, which, due to low-volume orders, can cause logistical issues in distribution.
“It’s easier and cheaper to deliver mixed pallets of cases than mixed cases of individual items,” said GFG managing director Stephen Briggs.
Landmark members can now shop on the Landmark by GFG portal and order small volumes of free-from, vegan, gourmet, religion-related, lifestyle, national and artisan products.
“This is a fabulous opportunity for our members to have access to products in this very important market sector, improving our offer for foodservice and allowing our retail members to not only compete with the major retailers but offer products that do not suit volume distribution systems,” said Landmark foodservice controller Les Mohammed.
Landmark trading controller Simon King added: “As allergens play an increasingly important part of consumers’ dietary planning, wholesalers must be able to identify these products easily to meet the needs of their customers.
“This platform by Good Food & Gift Company provides a package that will enable Landmark members to tap the free-from category, which is currently valued at £740m.”
