Sainsbury has appointed James Laws trade development manager for Scotland.
Laws will oversee Sainsbury's third annual supplier development programme in Scotland.
The programme is due to start in the autumn and is designed to give regional suppliers a thorough grounding in what the chain requires from its suppliers.
He will also promote and source Scottish suppliers on a day-to-day basis.
Laws, who is currently senior duty manager of Sainsbury's East Kilbride store, takes the role on a six-month secondment with a possible extension.
He replaces Jo Thorley who has finished a secondment and is leaving to run a large Sainsbury store in Altrincham, near Manchester.
