David Leigh has been appointed development manager for beers, wines and spirits at Asda, in a return to the company he first worked for 12 years ago on a university placement.
Leigh will work alongside Asda's BWS buying managers Karen Doran and CJ Antal-Smith, and senior wine product development manager Philippa Carr, as the team looks to capitalise on sector growth.
Asda had recorded market-leading growth of 21.6% across BWS, the retailer claimed, citing TNS data for the 12 weeks to 5 October showing it had outperformed the market by more than 17%.
"We've just introduced some brilliant changes to our BWS ranges and we're seeing some stunning growth," said Leigh.
Leigh joins the company from Vion, where he was marketing controller. Before that he held various events, promotions and marketing roles at Asda.
