Children’s favourites Teletubbies and Danger Mouse are returning to TV screens.
A new series of Teletubbies, one of the hottest licensed properties of the past two decades, was announced this week by DHX Media, which acquired the rights to Teletubbies last year when it purchased RagdollWorldwide.
The new show will air on CBeebies and have a similar style to the previous version but will be enhanced by CGI.
DHX Media would be building on a proven success, said Ian Downes of agency Star Licensing, which has no direct involvement with Teletubbies. “There will be a plan for its licensing development that may well include partnerships with fmcg brands and products,” he said.
Meanwhile, entertainment group FreemantleMedia, which owns the global TV and licensing rights to Danger Mouse, has been commissioned by the BBC to bring the heroic rodent back to TV next year.
