Lidl and Aldi are offering the cheapest full Christmas dinners yet, in deals matched penny for penny across ingredients.
Both are offering a Christmas dinner to serve six people for £16.32 - or £2.72 a head - and have cut veg to 19p to hit the low price.
Aldi’s deal, announced yesterday, is comprised of an Oakhurst Small British Ready Basted Whole Turkey (£13.49), potatoes, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, swedes (all 19p each), Everyday Essentials Yorkshire Puddings (50p), Quixo Sage & Onion Stuffing Mix (43p) and Quixo Gravy Granules (95p).
Lidl’s very similar deal, announced today, consists of a Braemoor Small British Self-Basting Turkey with Giblets (£13.49), potatoes, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, swedes (all 19p each), Simply Yorkshire Puddings (50p), Newgate Sage & Onion Stuffing Mix (43p) and Newgate Gravy Granules (95p).
In both deals, the turkey and Yorkshire puddings are frozen, while the veg is fresh.
Out of a string of other supermarket Christmas dinner offers, the only one coming close to Lidl and Aldi on cost per head is a £20 Asda deal claimed to feed four to seven, working out at a minimum £2.73 a head.
All the others work out at over £3 a head, including the cheapest outright, which is a £15 deal for four from Heron Foods.
