Lidl is launching its second sale on TikTok Shop, with its own version of a pistachio-filled chocolate treat which has been going viral on the platform.
A limited run of 6,000 Lidl Dubai-Style Chocolate bars are due to go on sale on the supermarket’s TikTok Shop from 9am on 20 March, priced at £3.99 plus £1 postage.
Dubai Chocolate has been the subject of over 300,000 posts on TikTok and videos of people eating the treat have gained millions of likes.
Lidl claims its 122g bars are the most affordable and only own-brand Dubai-style chocolate from a UK supermarket.
However, the discounter is not the only retailer getting in on the trend, with Home Bargains also selling its own version, and posting about it on TikTok. Home Bargains’ bite-sized Dubai Style Chocolate ‘Dubites’ are on sale in store at £3.99 for a 100g pack.
Lidl became the first UK supermarket to sell on TikTok Shop in February, when it offered a limited run of 3,000 bundles of high-protein products, which sold out in 18 minutes. The protein bundles were worth £30 each, according to Lidl, but sold on TikTok Shop for £5 each.
Lidl said TikTok users could now get “an exclusive first taste” of its Dubai Style Chocolate bars in its second sale on the platform, which it expected to prove even more popular than the first. The bars are not currently available in Lidl stores, making the sale exclusive to TikTok, for now.
