Lidl is sponsoring two festive outdoor ice skating rinks including the UK’s largest, in London’s Hyde Park.
The ice rink is part of Hyde Park’s ‘Winter Wonderland’, a festive fair running from 19 November to 3 January, after being cancelled last year due to Covid.
The sponsorship sees Lidl branding adorn the barriers of the 17,000 sq ft ice rink, which is built around Hyde Park’s Victorian bandstand.
It’s the result of two years’ work, according to Lidl GB marketing executive Georgia Townend.
“A very proud moment seeing our activation at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland come to life,” Townend wrote on LinkedIn. “Lidl GB are the presenting partner of the ice rink at the UK’s largest Christmas event.
“We’ve been beavering away for over two years to get this partnership and activation across the line, ready for six weeks of fun.
“Super special to sponsor an attraction that has become synonymous with the festive period, it’s a playground for memories to be made, and special times to be spent with loved ones.”
The discounter is also bringing ‘Lidl on Ice’ to Edinburgh George Street from 20 November to 2 January.
Lidl Deluxe Hot Chocolate and mince pies are on sale at both events, with proceeds going to the NSPCC and STV’s Children’s Appeal.
