Lidl is poised to roll out a centralised processing and data management system to its European and US stores following a trial in Austria.
The pilot saw a “big-bang” approach in 100 Austrian stores by consolidating numerous enterprise resource planning system applications on to a single platform in just one day.
The success sees the discounter take its first steps into standardising business processes for its 10,000 global stores.
Lidl used SAP ERP Retail to create what project director René Sandführ said was a lightning-fast platform for transparent processes. “We wanted to reduce complexity and maximise both flexibility and our focus on the business,” he said.
