Lidl’s biggest UK warehouse to date will be operational by November this year in Scotland, the discounter has announced.
Lidl will relocate operations from its current Scottish warehouse in Livingtson, West Lothian, 20 miles west to the new 630,000 sq ft facility at the Eurocentral industrial estate near Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.
The £70m new warehouse will provide 600 jobs ranging from logistics to customer service, and support Lidl’s network of 97 Scottish stores, set to grow to 100 by the start of 2020.
The discounter has 13 regional distributional centres across the UK.
“As we head into the final phase of construction, the team here at Lidl are all incredibly excited about moving into our new Scottish home,” said Lidl Scotland regional director Ross Millar.
“Our investment in this new warehouse underlines our long-term commitment to Scotland, which will help to ensure that Lidl stores from Kirkwall to Stranraer are always stocked with our fresh, locally sourced, high quality products.”
