Loch Duart, a premium salmon farm in Sutherland, is buying the sites of neighbouring farm Ardvar Salmon.
At a time when many salmon farms are struggling to survive, Loch Duart is concentrating on local expansion.
The area between the Point of Stoer and Cape Wrath is one of the last large areas on the west coast where the salmon farms are owned solely by Scottish companies. Continuing its policy of sustainable salmon farming, Loch Duart plans to reduce the overall amount of salmon produced in the area.
Loch Duart already farms in three separate sea lochs, leaving one fallow each year for full regeneration through the actions of wind and tide. Markets for its salmon have been found in high quality retail and restaurant outlets throughout the world.
