Cider maker C&C Group has named former Scottish & Newcastle boss Sir Brian Stewart as its next chairman.
Sir Brian becomes a non-executive director and chairman-designate from next month. During his time at S&N – now Heineken UK – he oversaw the purchase of the Bulmbers cider brand.
He will succeed outgoing chair Tony O’Brien in August. O’Brien spent two decades as chief executive of the Magners maker and a further eight year as non-executive chair.
The appointment marks the latest in a line of former S&N executives to join C&C, including current chief executive John Dunsmore, who took over the reins in November 2008.
Commenting on the appointment, O'Brien said: “With his vast knowledge and experience of the LAD sector, coupled with his valuable trade connections [Sir Brian] is the ideal person to lead the next phase of C&C's development.”
