UK sales at Makro Cash & Carry increased 2% to £1.1bn in 2003.
The cash and carry, part of the German giant Metro Cash & Carry International, now has 33 outlets after opening four last year in Exeter, Ipswich, Chester and Wolverhampton.
It will launch a promotional campaign this year providing key promotions to celebrate its 40th trading anniversary.
Overall sales at parent group Metro Cash & Carry were up 4.7% to 125.1bn across 475 outlets in 26 countries. Operating profit grew 12.8% to 1800m. Metro’s international business, which excludes Germany, grew 4.1% to 119.2bn. It now has a presence in the Ukraine and India.
