Makro Cash & Carry's online ordering site has gone live. The Grocer revealed in August that Makro was revamping its website to allow people to make purchases online. In September it added a product directory to the site.
The new online shop went live this week and includes more than 2,000 non-food products for caterers.
Products were up to 39% cheaper than competitors', claimed Makro customer director Mark Copeland.
"Not only does the site give our professional catering customers even more choice in how they do business with us, it also provides them with significant cost savings," he said. "It has been designed to complement our offline services, such as foodservice, and is the latest step in a series of significant online developments."
The wholesaler is also one of the first companies within Metro Group to offer the service.
