The retailer has launched a swathe of new products for 2025

M&S has unveiled two new functional food ranges for 2025.

Created with advice from the British Nutrition Foundation, the Brain Food range (prices from £1) champions six brain health supporting nutrients (omega-3 (DHA), iron, iodine, folate, zinc and vitamin B12).

It comprises 13 products, spanning drinks, on-the-go snacks, salads and breakfast items – all of which feature the retailer’s ‘Eat Well’ logo.

Each product is a source of at least two of the brain supporting nutrients.

Products include Brain Ball (rsp: £1.50/40g), a mixed berry energy ball filled with almond butter and coated in raspberry powder, and Oat of the Blue (rsp: £2.75/250ml), a creamy oat and coconut drink with spirulina.

Yay Mushrooms, meanwhile, is a nine-strong functional drinks range featuring lion’s mane and reishi mushrooms. None of the drinks themselves taste of mushrooms, M&S has stressed.

Inspired by a recent trip to Los Angeles, M&S’s product development team enlisted the help of scientists at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, to test and confirm the identity and quality of the two mushroom powders to use in the drinks.

Products in the range include Vanilla Latte with Lion’s Mane (rsp: £1.90/250ml) and AM & PM Shot (£3/2x100ml), a duo pack of two single-serve juice shots, intended for consumption in the morning and evening, respectively.

AM Shot is made of apple, ginger & lime juice with lion’s mane, matcha and ginseng. PM Shot, meanwhile, contains cherry & coconut with reishi, chamomile and lavender.

Both shots are also available to purchase individually (rsp: £1.60/100ml) and in a 500ml dosing bottle (rsp: £4).

The ranges have launched into M&S food halls nationwide, as well as Ocado, along with “loads more health newness – from high protein bars, meals and spreads to new gut-friendly drinks and salads”, according to the retailer.

“We’re becoming more and more famous for our new product launches and these two health & wellness ranges, Brain Food and Yay Mushrooms, are no different,” said M&S head of product development Kathryn Turner.

“Innovative and tasty, these products aim to help you make simple swaps and changes to your lifestyle this January and set you up for a great start to the new year.”
