Marks & Spencer has launched its first mobile shopping app that also offers customers tools and services including a GPS store locater and barcode scanner.
The iPhone app allows customers to browse and shop the M&S catalogue, access product information via a QR code reader, find product alternatives using a barcode reader, get directions to their nearest store and create shopping wish lists.
The development of the app follows the launch of a fully mobile-enabled website in May 2010 that M&S said was the first from a major UK high street retailer.
Sales from the mobile-enabled site have increased by more than 200% in the last 12 months, M&S said.
