Marks & Spencer is to move its £4m smoked mackerel processing contract from Young’s Seafood to Dawnfresh.
The switch follows a move by the retailer to sign up new seafood suppliers in June, which will also see it ditch an estimated £60m Icelandic Seachill contract.
M&S and Young’s were working through a handover period that would be completed over the summer, said an M&S spokesman, who added Young’s would remain an important supplier on other seafood lines.
“We have recently won other work and we continue to be committed to the manufacture of hot and cold smoked ready to eat products from our Fraserburgh plant,” Young’s said.
