Marks and Spencer has slashed the price of its women’s clothing ranges for the autumn and winter seasons in an attempt to improve underlying sales.
Analysts at Seymour Pierce said that prices had been reduced by as much as 25%.
Rhys Williams, an analyst from Seymour Pierce, said: “Looking around the store, we see that M&S has reduced the price points of much of its entry category merchandise by around 25%.”
A spokesman for the retailer confirmed the reductions: “We have been making double digit decreases where we feel we need to.”
