Marks & Spencer has launched a campaign in association with environmental charity Groundwork to make better use of parks, gardens and other green spaces.
The programme, called @myurbangreen, has set a target of delivering 850 activities and events such as clean-ups and tree planting days by September.
Supported with funding from M&S, Groundwork will engage with local communities to meet the target.
“It will help local people take ownership of their green spaces and ensure they are fit for everyone to enjoy,” said Mike Barry, M&S’s head of sustainable business.
“It’s a simple and effective way for our customers to get involved in supporting their local communities.”
M&S has been donating profits from the sale of food carrier bags to Groundwork for three years to help improve the UK’s green spaces.
