Marks & Spencer is ramping up the value message while pitching to family shoppers, by boosting its Bigger Pack, Better Value range.
The range, which is being increased to more than 90 products according to M&S, is designed specifically for family shoppers, an area where the retailer has seen significant growth.
New lines include Select Farms Mixed Peppers (750g) for £2.50, Large Mozzarella & Tomato Pizza (465g) for £3.75, and two Garlic Baguettes (420g) for £2.25.
It’s part of a renewed value push by M&S, which also includes a new Family Stir Fry Dine In deal in Foodhalls, serving four people for £6. There are three options to choose from, with the deal consisting of a large veggie selection, large sauce and large noodle.
It joins M&S’s Pizza Night offer, consisting of two hand-stretched, wood-fired pizzas and two side dishes for £12.
Meanwhile, over 200 products are available under M&S’s three value labels: Remarksable Value, Bigger Pack, Better Value, and Dropped & Locked. Dropped & Locked highlights products that have been temporarily lowered and locked in price, with several key lines recently added across core categories including vegetables, sliced meats and cheese, according to M&S.
The value push comes after M&S CEO Stuart Machin warned earlier this month of waning consumer optimism following the autumn budget, despite the retailer growing food sales faster over Christmas than any other major grocer.
“Quality is at the heart of every decision we make at M&S Food, which is why we offer customers trusted value, which to us means M&S quality at the best price,” said M&S Food product development director Kathryn Turner.
“Whether customers are looking for the best everyday products on the market in our Remarksable Value range or a restaurant-quality meal at home from one of our Dine In deals, they can trust that every product at M&S Food offers both great value and industry-leading quality.”
The steps announced today also include price cuts of up to 20% on more than 100 M&S kidswear lines.
