Puerto Rico's largest mango exporter Pango Mango, well known in the UK, has been bought by its competitor Martex Farms.
The deal will give the company a total production of some 12,000 tonnes mainly of the Keitt variety.
Importer Minor, Weir and Willis, which has sold Martex fruit for the last eight years, said the resultant economies and crop handling facilities should help UK consumption rise.
Market penetration of the fruit in the UK is 11.5%. The total market last year reached 23,000 tonnes from at least a dozen sources and was valued at nearly £15m.
