A leading supplier of duck products for the UK and export markets has gone into administration after an attempted refinancing operation failed to overcome long-running cashflow pressures exacerbated by recent weak prices.
Manor Farm Ducklings, based at Ickburgh, Norfolk, built up its annual turnover to £17m during half a century of trading. It claims almost 25% of the UK market in its sector and has been working on a new range of own label duck products for supermarket customers.
Joint administrators from insolvency firm Grant Thornton are hopeful of finding a buyer for the business as a going concern in order to ensure continuity of supply and help save 150 jobs.
