International Wine Services is switching continents for the source of its Marc Xero Merlot.
It is leaving California and moving to Italy, which also supplies the Chardonnay for the other style in the range. The move will allow the company to put more emphasis on the wines' origins, said brand manager Jeremy Dunn.
"Italy is less branded than any other country and as one of the leading suppliers by market share, it offers the brand a great opportunity," he said.
"Its Italian origin will be key to strengthening the brand in the long term."
IWS will be backing the brand with a press advertising campaign breaking at the end of the summer.
