Margot Robbie’s gin brand Papa Salt has secured its first UK supermarket listing.

Its core Coastal Gin (43% abv) has rolled into Tesco stores nationwide, (rsp: £39/700ml) after making its UK debut through an exclusive tie-up with Harvey Nichols in June.

Papa Salt was co-founded by the Barbie actor, along with husband Tom Ackerley and friends Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas and Charlie Maas.

Featuring native botanicals including wax flower, wattleseed, pink peppercorn and oyster shell, the spirit – which launched in Australia in 2023 – is the result of five years’ development by the group.

It is made in collaboration with the Lord Byron Distillery in Byron Bay and distributed in the UK by DrinksOne, which will continue to support its expansion into new markets.

“We are so excited to bring Papa Salt to the UK market,” said co-founder and CEO Maas at the time of the Harvey Nichols launch.

“We fell in love with gin in England’s wonderful pubs, clubs and bars, and we hope Papa Salt is a refreshing addition to the wonderful spirits culture of the UK.”

The Grocer understands that Robbie and Ackerley visited Sainsbury’s head office in August to pitch the brand to buyers. However, a Sainsbury’s listing for Papa Salt has not yet been confirmed.
