Deputy md, Morrisons Melnyk began her career stacking shelves. In 1981 she became fresh produce buyer and was appointed produce director six years later. She became trading director in 1988 and in 1993 joined the main board with responsibility for buying and marketing. She became joint deputy md (trading) in 1997, and sole deputy md last month.
