Spar is focusing on a much tighter range to satisfy consumer demand. We want to avoid falling into the trap of having a range presented by a supplier. We want to identify what consumers want rather than throwing everything against the wall.
Christmas and Easter is about making sure you have the right range, the right point of sale and everything in stock to make the most of that window of opportunity. If you aren't careful, it's just a service for impulse and distress purchases, and that's not the aim and objective of Spar.
Promotions will include multibuys buy three at a price, or buy one get one free. We've come up with a suitable range and complemented that with NPD. Cadbury's Buttons Easter egg is pretty big in terms of the sector we represent but it depends on the strength of the deal. Mars will be putting out a Harry Potter egg, and if you put in a well supported brand like Harry Potter in a category it can only grow that category.
