Mars Petcare is considering closing a factory in Peterborogh, which makes Pedigree, Whiskas and Chappie.
The company is consulting on closing the site, which employs 82 workers, following a review of its capacity requirements for the manufacture of dry pet food across Europe.
“The proposed changes, if they proceed, would enable us to continue investing in industry-leading facilities and people at our other UK sites,” said a Mars Petcare spokeswoman.
Mars said it expected to be able to offer “a substantial number” of employees jobs at other sites, including a nearby factory in Melton Mowbray.
“We will be working closely with all of those potentially affected to offer the best possible advice and support throughout the process,” added the spokeswoman.
